"Big Box" Retail Store

A major big box retail store with facilities located throughout the Northeastern United States faces a myriad of issues relative to concrete floor failures in high traffic areas where customers shop. Concrete floors and thresholds are subject to weight stress and deterioration from constant foot and machinery traffic (10,000 pound forklifts). As a result, cracks and other failures sometimes render certain portions of the flooring dangerous to pedestrian (customer) traffic.

CorrTech is engaged to repair these problems on a case by case basis using a variety of techniques and materials. Epoxy resin polymers are used to repair floor cracks and divots. These materials have a higher tensile strength than concrete and are virtually impervious to damage caused by normal operations at these locations. High strength elastomers are used to repair and rebuild expansions joints or as bacteria barriers on flooring/wall interfaces in food preparation areas. These materials are also used to seal roof leaks around skylights or other roof appurtenances that may develop leaks over time. Occasionally combinations of materials are used to repair and rebuild floor thresholds at food storage coolers or even the entrances to the stores

These repairs are typically performed after store hours so that there is no interference with retail operations. Strict measures are enforced to control dust and debris and to complete all repairs in a timely fashion. As a result, trip hazards are eliminated in the case of the floor repairs. Possible health code violations are minimized and most importantly, store operations are never compromised as a result of the repair/maintenance program.
