Selkrik Cogen

Selkirk Cogen is a premier electric and steam power provider in Upstate New York. Selkirk put a corporate initiative to focus on:

Dependable and reliable supply of power and steam

To achieve this, Selkirk Cogen continues determined it needed to take a proactive approach to their plant infrastructure operation and maintenance. To ensure that plant systems operated properly, Selkirk contracted CorrTech Inc. CorrTech's job was to provide expertise and solutions in a range of corrosion engineering and infrastructure technologies.

Selkirk Cogen awarded a number of orders engagements to CorrTech since 1999 and has an ongoing relationship with CorrTech today. CorrTech has provided a range of infrastructure evaluation services to Selkirk Cogen Partners, in Selkirk NY. A variety of non-destructive evaluations and corrosion exposure assessments have been performed on pipes, tanks and other infrastructure via several technologies and methodologies.

CorrTech's inspection protocol employed sampling and testing procedures, with suitable and calibrated instrumentation, to provide the required information. Inspections were performed in accordance with many applicable standards as required for the structure under study. These included American Petroleum Institute, API, American Water Works Association, AWWA, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, NACE and other applicable standards.

For each unique structure under study, an evaluation approach was developed and followed. In addition, CorrTech's standard protocols were followed, with analysis and sampling/testing procedures as determined to ensure proper and adequate evaluation of the structures of interest.

CorrTech has provided the following services at this 365 mw facility:

Cathodic protection design, installation supervision and testing for above ground storage tanks and underground piping and storage tanks

Equipment inspection and evaluation

API 653 inspection of 12 chemical tanks

API 653 inspection of oil storage tank

Failure analysis of sulfuric acid tank
